The OpenNI Arena is proud to host the OpenNI Challenge 2012 beginning on April 1st.
On the right corner, YOU. On the left corner, app hungry OpenNI developers.

And the prize?

You heard it.

The goal of the OpenNI Challenge is simple – develop the best Natural Interaction app ever, using OpenNI.
OpenNI is both easy to use and absolutely free.

So, what kind of apps are we talking about?
Three categories are accepted:

To join the OpenNI Challenge please leave your email,
and we will contact you when registration begins

ONLINE SHOPPING FOR SMART TVS

The NI App should be an innovative navigation
interface to buy/browse/discover/try/get
details of any chosen products from an online
catalogue while you’re in your living room.

APPS FOR KIDS UNDER AGE 10

Whether it’s educational or simply fun, the
NI app should be fully usable by kids under
age 10, without adult assistance.

PHOTO TOOLS

The NI app should allow photo enhancement
using effects/augmented reality.

Once you’ve got your app going, make a video showcasing it, and upload both the code file and the video to the OpenNI Challenge’s website. A panel of
distinguished experts will examine all apps, plus we will put them up for voting on the website. The winners in each category will be equally determined by
the experts’ decision and the votes. The three chosen apps (best of each category) will earn their developers a fully paid trip to IBC 2012 in Amsterdam.
Yep, that’s three trips and three IBC 2012 tickets.

To make things more interesting, we invite you to tweet about the OpenNI Challenge (after registering, that is).
Ten lucky tweeters will win a brand new ASUS XtionPro sensor.
